I grew up on a farm in North Central Kansas. My father took me hunting with him from a young age. I have loved hunting since the first day that he took me out. I started out hunting pheasants, quail, deer and turkey. I was introduced to waterfowl hunting at the age of 11. On my first hunt I bagged a Greater Canada Goose that weighed 15 plus pounds with my youth model 20 gauge 870. It was one of the most exhilarating feelings I have ever had, even though the walk back to the house was long and muddy with a heavy goose over your shoulder. From that moment on I was hooked on waterfowl hunting. In the beginning of my waterfowl hunting career I had to figure a lot of things on my own. After a few years I met some people who were also waterfowl enthusiast that helped me hone my skills. I now hunt with an organized group that is comprised of some of my mentors and others that they have taken under their wings. My passion for wildlife, the outdoors, and hunting is so great that I am currently working on a Wildlife and Outdoor Enterprise Management degree from Kansas State University. I hope to one day run my own guiding service.
