Casey Lauer

Born and raised on the beautiful front range of Colorado I was introduced to hunting very quickly and it didn’t take long for the challenge, friendship, and excitement of the sport to take root. I have hunted waterfowl and big game for as long as I can remember. My father was a big influence on me when it came to the outdoors and I know I wouldn’t be the same person without that influence today. I remember my first hunting trip with him when I was six years old. I was cold and tired but the excitement kept me going. My dad always tells me how I was just sitting there, shaking and shivering that first morning in the woods. He kept asking me if I wanted to go but I told him “no” because I didn’t want to miss anything. Those are the times I will never forget and I know it’s the same for him. That’s what hunting is to me it’s not what or if you bag anything that day. It’s the memories you make and the people you meet that make hunting a meaningful experience to anyone. Hunting and fishing are not only my hobbies they’re my life. Waterfowl hunting is my favorite thing to do all year long. As soon as that early season starts till the very last day of the season you will find me out in the field and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I am currently self employed in the oil and gas industry and between work and hunting I have no time left. I have been fairly established in the waterfowling community here in Colorado and have met some great people. I also have a few big game animals in the pope and young record book and am an avid bow hunter. Hunting isn’t what I do, it’s what defines me.

In the off season I am working, fishing and playing golf. I also shoot some skeet and practice my archery. I try to make as many outdoors shows and waterfowl banquets as possible, between Ducks Unlimited, Mule Deer Foundation, National Wild Turkey Federation, and Pheasants Forever I try to help out the local habitat. With the next season’s preparations, there’s always something to do.
