Born 5/16/80 I grew up in Prior Lake playing hockey, baseball and football. When I turned 11 I went and got my Firearms Safety. That fall, my Dad took me deer hunting the first time. Surprisingly enough, I sat the whole day and didn't whine. I didn't shoot a deer for the first 6 years. But when I did get my first deer, it was an 8 pointer. When I was 12 I got my fist taste of duck hunting. We were in a pasture pond with homemade blinds set up around it. Depending on the wind, we could set up on any side of the water. My first time out we shot our limit of Wood Ducks, Mallards and Geese. After this first hunt, I was absolutely hooked. I would beg my buddy's Dad to take me duck hunting. My father wasn't a duck hunter. I remember bring our ducks home and my buddy's Mom would cook them up right then and there. Man they were tasty, still to this day, are delicious!! I can remember making sneaks on ducks and geese that would set up in the other ponds on the farm. Crawling through weeds, over and under barbed wire and weaving through piles of cow crap. Now, we have all the tools to outsmart the birds. From calls, blinds, location, decoys and knowledge that we have grown to learn. I don't have a ton of time to travel to other states to chase birds. Being a father of two takes a lot of time away from being out in the field. My job takes a lot of time away also. I run a tow truck for Rapid Recovery in St. Paul. We tow for 3 police departments and State Patrol. Not to mention all the private properties we do as well. My shift is overnights. So, by the time I get off work, it's almost shooting time. I made my first trip to Canada during the 08 season. What a trip! I can't wait to get back up there. That is an experience everyone should do. From the number of birds you'll see to the phenomenal scenery. It's amazing. Plain and simple. I have enjoyed the outdoors my whole life. From camping to photography. I hope to carry this tradition on with my family and get my kids involved with the passions I enjoy.
