Joe Doris

Growing up in east central IL , I began fishing and hunting at a early age with guidance from seasoned family members and friends. I was ecstatic when I tagged my first whitetail buck with a bow at the age of thirteen. In addition to hunting deer, pheasant, and coyote, I eagerly pursued fishing and entered bass tournaments when I was seventeen. I claimed top prizes at a few of the tournaments. An experienced friend introduced me to waterfowl hunting when I was eighteen As with hunting wildlife, I am anxious to apply newly acquired skills with each hunt. That is one aspect of hunting that I never tire of, that is learning and applying new skills. There is always something new to be tried and tested.

I also love to help people in anyway possible, whether it be questions about hunting or fishing and or at work where I am a Firefighter/Paramedic. I was honored when asked to be a field guide for a popular duck and goose club in central Illinois. I enjoy meeting with fellow hunters, exchanging stories and strategies.

I am excited to be selected by Bill to serve as a field staff member for Dakota Outdoor products and meeting fellow staff members. I live a short distance from the Braidwood, Il which is a seasonal home to limitless ducks and geese. I currently live in Bourbonnais, IL with my fiancé and daughter whom are strong supporters of my goals. I am also currently training my first field companion, Ellie, a five month old chocolate Labrador Retriever.
